Orkun Kökcü can count on a permanent place in the midfield of Feyenoord under trainer Dick Advocaat. The only nineteen-year-old midfielder, however, does not impress Jan Everse, former player of the Rotterdam club. The former trainer of PEC Zwolle, among others, believes that Kökcü currently adds very little to Feyenoord’s attacking game.

“He does not have the dynamics you expect,” concludes Everse in the football talk show RTV Rijnmond. “He’s not in top shape, doesn’t look fit. I think a midfielder like the fire brigade should go. He hasn’t. How many goals does he score?” Kökcü has so far been one assist in five games in the Eredivisie this season. The young midfielder was not yet able to score in a competition context on behalf of the Rotterdammers in the year 2020/21.

Everse is a lot more positive about Ridgeciano Haps, who saved a point for Feyenoord in the final phase against RKC Waalwijk (2-2) on Sunday. “I was never a fan of his, he makes a lot of mistakes. A lot of balls shoot off his shoe, but he has an enormous drive. He is Feyenoord’s best striker at the moment,” Everse pays a compliment to Haps. The left back is very important for the formation of Lawyer with his attacking intentions, as it turned out on Sunday during the game with RKC.

Fellow defenders Marcos Senesi, included for the first time in the pre-selection of the Argentina team, and Uros Spajic also impress the usually critical Everse. However, the analyst is not satisfied with the right side of the Feyenoord defense. “The right back position is insufficient, with both Bart Nieuwkoop and Lutsharel Geertruida. I find it very vulnerable.”
