Javi Martínez doesn’t mince words in a startling interview on YouTube. The 33-year-old defender, who left Bayern Munich last summer to play in Qatar, is not very discreet when asked about ‘his best-endowed team-mate in football’. “The penis of Renato Sanches would actually deserve its own exhibition, it was insane,” laughs Martínez, who played for Bayern for several seasons with the current midfielder of Lille OSC.
Martínez then goes the extra mile. “Now I don’t know if he has a girlfriend or not, but the poor girl… I don’t know what she thinks about life, if she’s still alive…”, Martínez winks at MostopapiTV, a YouTube channel of former top futsal player Vicente with 1.9 million followers. “It’s not that I look at it in the dressing room, but at Bayern I had a lot of black team-mates and it was unmissable.”

Martínez also has no trouble answering questions about his own sex life. The Qatar SC player says he loves to celebrate victories by making love. “One day I didn’t even wait to get home because my girlfriend was excited too,” he introduces an anecdote from his time as a player for Athletic Club, where he started his professional career between 2006 and 2012.
“We had won and we had to release our nervousness and tension… We passed Mount Artxanda by car,” he refers to the mountain range in Bilbao, the city where he played at the time. “We ended up in a forest, it was an exciting place. And at home you have to wait until bedtime,” he jokes. If Martínez had scored a winning goal for Athletic against arch-rival and fellow townsman Real Sociedad, he wouldn’t have even waited for the woods. “Then it was immediately done in the San Mamés,” he says with a laugh, referring to the Athletic stadium.
Martínez is also asked to describe himself in the bedroom. “I am actually exactly like I am as a football player: someone who gives everything, until the referee blows his whistle before the end of the game. It doesn’t matter if it’s raining, cold or warm.” Martínez also compares himself to another player. “Physically I am a 10, technically a 6.5 or a 7. For rounding I have a 10, I am actually a kind of Erling Braut Haaland”, he concludes with a laugh.
