Henk de Jong advises Ajax to join forces with Pepijn Lijnders. During the day Veronica Offside the current coach of SC Cambuur tells via video connection in conversation with presenter Wilfred Genee that he hears 'good stories' about Jürgen Klopp's assistant, who will leave as Liverpool coach at the end of the current season.

During the broadcast, the possible succession of trainer John van 't Schip is discussed. De Jong, who was not present in the studio but was present via a video connection, listened to the discussion at the table.

Although De Jong agrees that Ron Jans would be a good successor to Van 't Schip, he emphasizes that Lijnders would in any case be an excellent assistant for the Amsterdam team.

“The best assistant coach is now released. He is now with Klopp. That would be a good combination. There are people who function well as an assistant, and that is him. If you also read what Klopp says about him,” said De Jong.

Valentijn Driessen, also a guest in the program, confirms that Lijnders would indeed be a suitable candidate for the assistant coach vacancy. “Lijnders does indeed work very well with Martijn Beuker.”

Earlier in the day, Mike Verweij also suggested this in the podcast Kickoff by The Telegraph Lijnders already as an assistant. The Ajax watcher would like to see him work next to head coach Frank de Boer.

“What I would find very nice would be Frank de Boer with Pepijn Lijnders as assistant,” said Verweij. “Lijnders has worked for Jürgen Klopp for years, so why couldn't that work?”
