Hélène Hendriks cannot believe that Wim Kieft and Kees Jansma do not think the fatal tackle on the right leg of Cody Gakpo is worth a red card. The PSV captain dropped out in the Conference League against FC Copenhagen (0-4 win) shortly after the break after a remarkable charge from Denis Vavro, who only got yellow. “Can you get in if I say I absolutely think it’s red?”, asks presenter Hendriks Veronica to Kieft.

“No, I can’t get in there,” the former striker responds, while the images are repeated. Gakpo’s lower leg was unfortunately caught between the scissor legs of the Slovakian defender. “I think it’s very rude of that boy, but I don’t think he even has the intention… But because he comes in so rude, way too late actually… Gakpo turns his body a bit for it, well… ”

“And you, Kees?” Hendriks seeks approval from the other analyst at the table. “Me neither,” Jansma responds. “I would have liked to have had a different opinion than Wim, but in this case: it’s stupid, it’s uncontrolled, but it’s not even on purpose. It’s more or less ignorance, it comes out wrong. It’s much more important for PSV to know how Gakpo is doing, because that is another important pillar for the coming weeks.”

Kieft and Jansma highlight Eran Zahavi as one of the star players at PSV. The striker scored the first and third goal and played a big part in reaching the last eight of the Conference League. “He takes his goals, as has been the case in recent weeks”, Jansma knows. “This really gives a striker a lot of confidence,” Kieft added. “And of course you can use that at this stage of the season.” It was also good at the back for PSV. “They managed the counter very well, actually Copenhagen has only been dangerous once, where they broke out again and again last week,” said Kieft.
