A tough start to the 2021/22 season awaits Manchester City. The reigning champions of England will start the new campaign on Saturday 14 August with an away game against Tottenham Hotspur. After that, the team of manager Josep Guardiola will meet in the first seven rounds with Arsenal, Leicester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Hakim Ziyech’s Chelsea also has a very spicy opening phase of the new football season. The Champions League winner still has a relatively easy start with a home game against city rivals Crystal Palace. In the first five rounds, however, duels with Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool are also on the program. On match day six, the formation of manager Thomas Tuchel will have to deal with Manchester City. For Manchester United, who open on August 14 against Leeds United at Old Trafford, the start looks set to be a lot easier. The first squatter is not until October 16 against FA Cup winner Leicester City. In the first weeks, Liverpool only has toppers against Chelsea (third round) and Manchester City on October 2.

The newly promoted Norwich City, with Tim Krul in the ranks, will receive a visit from Liverpool on the first day of play. Anwar El Ghazi and Aston Villa visit Watford, which, like Norwich, returns to the Premier League. Brentford, the third PhD candidate, can prepare for a London city derby against Arsenal on August 14. The 2021/22 season in the Premier League will conclude on Sunday 22 May.

The complete first round of the Premier League:

Brentford – Arsenal
Burnley – Brighton & Hove Albion
Chelsea – Crystal Palace
Everton – Southampton
Leicester City – Wolverhampton Wanderers
Manchester United – Leeds United
Newcastle United – West Ham United
Norwich City – Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspur – Manchester City
Watford – Aston Villa
