Sergiño Dest is looking forward to being on the field with the United States national team alongside Christian Pulisic. The right back of Barcelona was impressed by the attacker of Chelsea during previous international periods during training, but the two did not play a joint game yet. “Pulisic is a really great player,” Dest said ESPN.

Dest has three games so far for the American team and can hope to add two more games against Wales and Panama. The former Ajax player may then play together with Pulisic for the first time. “He’s fast and very good at dribbling,” said Dest. “I saw him a few times in practice before I made my debut against Mexico and he was really good there. I did some quiet recovery training and I saw him train, he was really hard to stop.”

Also during games, Pulisic, who has 14 goals in 34 international matches, shows it, Dest knows. “Hopefully we will get a good connection on the field and we can play well together,” said the twenty-year-old fullback, who also looks forward to playing with Giovanni Reyna from Borussia Dortmund. “I haven’t met Gio yet, so I don’t know him as a person, but he and Pulisic are both good players. Hopefully we can achieve something great together in the coming years.”

The United States has a young selection with a lot of new talent. Konrad de la Fuente received an invitation from Barcelona for the first time and Bayern Munich talent Chris Richards is also in the selection. “Those guys are getting better, they’re coming,” says Dest. “I believe we will have a very good team in the future.” Dest is finally asked again to explain his choice for the US instead of the Netherlands. “I saw more in the US and I have also played in the US youth teams, so it was a bit of loyalty too. I made a good choice and hopefully I will be big in the US.”
