Perr Schuurs experienced an unfortunate moment in the Champions League match between Ajax and Liverpool (0-1) on Wednesday evening. Prior to the only goal of the match, Nicolás Tagliafico’s own goal, Schuurs was fooled on the sidelines by Sadio Mané. The winger easily turned away from the defender, who was talking to Ajax Life admits to being fed up with the moment.
Mané played Schuurs in one handy move and unintentionally prepared Tagliafico’s own goal. It was a sad moment for Schuurs, who was working on a strong first half, in which he got in the way of Mané several times. “Yes, of course such a moment bothers me. If you look at the total achievement of the 0-1, it is just unfortunate”, he says. “But it starts with me and ends in a goal against.”

Perr Schuurs’ performance was rated with a 4 by Voetbalzone.
“He is the best attacker in the world and we have fared well, but not good enough for a point”, Schuurs continues. “We should have used our opportunities for that.” The twenty-year-old stopper still had some unfortunate moments in the second half, after a hesitant performance in a duel with Roberto Firmino, he let himself be played by the legs and a risky situation arose: fifteen minutes before the end, he let himself be thrown off the ball by Diogo Jota, after which André Onana had to sprint forward to save the day

Was the pace slower than usual in the Champions League, or did it just seem that way? “For us it just felt like it used to,” the youth responds. “This was the first real test we had. The level was high, the pace was high. Higher than we are used to in the premier division. That is normal and we noticed.”
