It appears that Bertrand Traoré is eligible to play in the upcoming preliminary round matches in the Europa League against Vojvodina, reports Mike Verweij of The TelegraphAjax still needs confirmation about this from UEFA.

Ajax announced on Monday, July 15, that Traoré will return to Amsterdam on a free transfer, but the 28-year-old right winger missed this week's practice matches because he was still awaiting his work permit.

The paperwork for Traoré's work permit appears to have been completed, meaning that nothing seems to stand in the way of the Burkina Faso attacker making a comeback in the Ajax shirt.

Ajax must survive three preliminary rounds this summer to eventually reach the main tournament of the Europa League. On Thursday 25 July, the first qualifying match will be played at home against the Serbian Vojvodina. A week later, on Thursday 1 August, the return match will be played.

It is questionable whether Traoré will be deployed by coach Francesco Farioli on Thursday. The coach does not want to rush the attacker's return to Ajax. “He is an explosive player, who is just more prone to injuries. We first want to see how he is physically,” said the Italian.

Traoré has had many injury problems in recent years. The left-footer only played 612 minutes in seventeen official matches at Villarreal last season.
