Sporting director Markus Krösche calls Brobbey a ‘young, versatile and determined’ player, who fits well with Leipzig. “He has proved to Ajax that he can also perform on the big stage in Europe. We are delighted that Brian chose to come here. He had offers from top clubs in Europe. We will have a lot of fun with him.”

Ajax announced at the beginning of February that Brobbey did not want to extend his expiring contract and was therefore faced with a transfer. Almost immediately, Leipzig’s name fell as a potential new employer. Ajax kept trying behind the scenes to get Brobbey to sign up, but it is now clear that the leader of the Eredivisie is fishing behind the net.
