Johan Derksen does not know how Mohamed Ihattaren can get his career out of the doldrums. It is according to the analyst of Veronica Inside the question is whether the 19-year-old midfielder will ever find a job again, following his failure to appear at his new club Sampdoria. In Friday evening’s broadcast, Derksen states that Ihattaren has ‘destroyed his own transfer value’ and could get into trouble after his contract expires.

“I gave up. If you put everything together: PSV has tried, his agent José Fortes Rodriguez, his family… He is just missing. He does not want to”, concludes Derksen. Ihattaren currently seems to be working with a personal trainer in Utrecht. BestPersonalSportskills shared a photo via Instagram on Friday in which the nineteen-year-old attacking midfielder poses with owner Jordy Best on the fields of the Utrecht amateur club Elinkwijk.

“He doesn’t belong there. He has signed a contract in Italy,” emphasizes Derksen. “He should be on the training field on time. I don’t think any serious club is going to start with him anymore. When his contract has ended and he has no money left, he has a very big problem. Which Dutch club is still going take care of a repeat offender who structurally does not behave? He has destroyed his entire transfer value himself. That is really sad, dude.” Ihattaren has a contract with Juventus until mid-2025.

Two years ago, Derksen called Ihattaren ‘absolutely the greatest talent in the Netherlands’. In April of this year, however, he said that ‘half’ of Ihattaren’s transfer value had evaporated when he was in less good form. “I am sure that if Ajax dares to get him, he will shine there”, predicted the analyst. In the end he left for 1.9 million euros to Juventus, which immediately leased him to Sampdoria.

Before he made his official debut for Sampdoria, which hires him from Juventus, he returned to the Netherlands in October. Since then, the Italian club would have no further contact with him. Agent Mino Raiola also said he had not had any contact with him for a while last week and confirmed that Ihattaren has expressed his wish to stop playing football, a rumor that had previously circulated in Italy.
