Harry Kane scored his 33rd Bundesliga goal of the season on Saturday, taking his season total across all competitions for Bayern to 40. The Englishman contributed to Bayern Munich's 1-5 win over FC Union Berlin, which in addition to Kane also saw Leon Goretzka, Thomas Müller (twice) and Mathys Tel score. Yorbe Vertessen provided the goal of honor for the people of the capital.

At Bayern, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui started on the bench. Of the two former Ajax players, only the Moroccan international would be given a substitute role. Up front, Kane had to be provided with useful balls by Müller, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Tel. At Union, ex-PSV player Vertessen started on the bench.

Bayern created the first danger through Kane, whose hard shot didn't fly into the far corner enough to pass Union goalkeeper Fredrik Rønnow. Union started the match a little better and forced Manuel Neuer to make a save when a deflected shot from Lucas Tousart threatened to sail into the short corner.

After half an hour, Bayern scored. Aleksandar Pavlovic passed to Müller, who decided not to accept the ball but to make a nice and, as it turned out, effective step. Goretzka therefore gained possession of the ball and after putting the ball in front of his right, the German international rammed convincingly into the roof of the goal: 0-1.

Union did not give up and almost came to the same level twice, if it were not for Neuer's good form. The Bayern legend first saved on a hard shot from Tousart and moments later also had an answer to a volley from Robin Gosens. On the stroke of half-time, Bayern managed to double its lead. Kane was allowed to take a free kick and shot neatly through the wall into the short corner: 0-2.

If Union still had hope for a good result, it disappeared just after half time. Choupo-Moting passed to the far post, where Müller scored beautifully with a volley: 0-3. Union was broken and soon had to concede the 0-4 score. For a change, Kane was not the scorer, but the announcer. Tel promoted the Englishman's pass to an assist.

The next chance was also a hit for Bayern, who slowly but surely could think of a monster victory. Goretzka gave a sharp pass to Müller, who hit the goal in the far corner with a backward header: 0-5. Bayern took their foot off the accelerator and came close to scoring the goal through substitute Vertessen. The ex-PSV player enjoyed some space, but he did not make enough use of it by shooting wildly over. In injury time it was still a hit for the Belgian, who managed to pass Neuer with a low slide: 1-5.
