The supporters of Heracles Almelo can enjoy tastemaker Emil Hansson for another season. The option in his contract was taken up by the enthusiastic technical director Nico-Jan Hoogma. For Jetro Willems, his employment in black and white will soon come to an end. His contract will not be extended, Heracles announced on the club website.

Earlier this season, the Herac team also reached an agreement with the now long-term injured Nikolai Laursen until 2025 with an option for two more seasons. Now the club has also removed the options of Hansson, Ruben Roosken and Timo Jansink.

The technical director will be very pleased, especially with the extension of Hansson. The attacking midfielder and left winger from Heracles came over from Fortuna Sittard in January 2022 and is one of the important players in head coach Erwin van der Looi's team every week.

Hansson has now played 78 matches at number fourteen in the Eredivisie, of which he played 24 this season. With 5 goals and 6 assists, he is also the most involved player in the attacking game.

The employment of left back Willems is limited to one season. The option to extend the commitment is not granted by Heracles. Sven Sonnenberg, Chiel Olde Keizer, Navajo Bakklop and assistant coach Ivo Rossen will also close the door of the Erve Asito stadium behind them for the last time in the summer.

The 29-year-old Willems made the transfer-free transfer from the relegated FC Groningen to the promoted Heracles last summer. The 22-time international played sixteen games in Almelo this season. The left wing-back previously played for PSV, Eintracht Frankfurt, Newcastle United and SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

In addition, the mercenaries Mohamed Sankoh (VfB Stuttgart), Fredrik Oppegård (PSV) and Ajdin Hrustic (Hellas Verona) will in principle return to their actual employers.
