Hansi Flick wants to leave Bayern Munich after this season, he announced live on television after the 2-3 win at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday. The trainer has already informed the players’ group and the board of his decision. Flick is seen as the new head coach of the national team of Germany, while Julian Nagelsmann of RB Leipzig would be the ideal candidate to take over Flick’s range of duties in Bavaria.

“I have just informed the selection that I have informed the club management after the 0-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain that I want to get rid of my contract,” Flick said in conversation with Sky. “It was important to me that the players heard it from me. I am very grateful to the club for being able to lead this group of players.” Flick did not deny that he thinks of the German Football Association as a future employer. “The DFB is always an option that every coach thinks about.”
