Erling Braut Haaland made a name for himself again on Sunday afternoon. The Borussia Dortmund striker, who has remained dry for the past seven games (three at Norway and four at Dortmund), helped his team to a 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen with two hits. With the victory, Dortmund has regained fifth place, which the team had to leave to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. For Bremen, it meant the fifth defeat in a row in the Bundesliga, with which the team set a negative club record.

Dortmund took the initiative in the initial phase of the game, but had to see how the visitors surprisingly took the lead. Maximilian Eggestein had a measured deep pass to Milot Rashica, after which the winger could only approach goalkeeper Marwin Hitz and found the left corner: 0-1. The first time that Dortmund became really dangerous on the other side, it was also immediately hit. Mateu Morey moved in from the right side of the field and served Giovanni Reyna, after which the midfielder only needed a few seconds to chase the ball into the right intersection: 1-1.

Bremen was then unable to come out and had to take the next goal after more than half an hour of play. Kevin Möhwald violated Marco Reus in his own penalty area, after which referee Bastian Dankert put the ball on the spot and Haaland used the opportunity: 2-1. The same Möhwald was also involved in Dortmund’s third goal, when the ball reached Haaland’s feet and the striker could easily make his second of the afternoon with his right. For Haaland this already meant his 36th goal in 39 Bundesligaduels.

After the break, Dortmund slowed down a bit. Jirí Pavlenka managed to knock a shot from Reus over the goal and after more than an hour of play, a third goal by Haaland got in the way. The attack leader only approached the goalkeeper and attempted to outplay him, but ran into Pavlenka’s legs. The final chord came in the name of Mats Hummels. The center-back was found three minutes before time from a corner by Thorgan Hazard and headed the 4-1 against the ropes with some fortune. With that, the fifth defeat and the negative club record was a fact for Bremen.
