Serhou Guirassy will make the switch to Borussia Dortmund after all, Florian Plettenberg reported on Tuesday. The striker from Guinea was already on his way to those Borussiansbut during the first medical examination a suspected injury was suddenly discovered. Now he has passed the examination, despite the fact that a knee injury was discovered.

Plettenberg confirmed that Guirassy will sign a contract in Dortmund next Thursday, which will meet the €17.5 million buyout clause in his contract with VfB Stuttgart.

Last week, negotiations suddenly seemed to break down, because a knee injury was discovered during the medical examination. The injury had to be further examined by the doctors in order to come to a decision on whether or not to sign Guirassy.

The specialized investigation shows again that Guirassy is struggling with an injury, which he probably sustained during international duties with Guinea. However, the complaints have been assessed as 'well treatable', which means he will only be out of circulation for a few weeks.

Because the injury is not serious, Dortmund has decided to continue with the deal. It is still unclear until when the 28-year-old striker will be under contract.

Dortmund brings in Guirassy one of the absolute Bundesliga sensations of last season. The 28-year-old attacker scored no less than 28 Bundesliga goals last season and only had to give way to Harry Kane (36).

Before his permanent transfer from Stade Rennes to VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2023, Guirassy first played a year on loan in Stuttgart. Before that, the attacker played for Amiens SC, 1. FC Köln, Lille LOSC and AJ Auxerre, among others.
