Salvador Sostres, a journalist for the Spanish medium ABC, has drawn the ire of Barcelona. He wrote the match report of the game between the Catalans and Ferencváros on Tuesday evening for his employer and compared Barça talent Ansu Fati in it ‘a black street vendor running from the police’.

According to Spanish media, Barcelona intends to take legal action against the journalist and ABC. On Thursday, the club’s lawyers will meet to discuss possible steps. Antoine Griezmann does not have a good word for Sostres’s article. On Twitter, he expresses his displeasure with the words he has used: “Ansu is an exceptional boy who deserves nothing but respect. ‘No’ to racism and ‘no’ to rudeness. ”

Sostres has apologized on the ABC website. “In the report of the match between Barcelona and Ferencváros, my intention was to praise the beauty of Ansu’s movements,” the journalist writes. Some expressions have been perceived as racist. That was not my intention. I am very sorry for this misunderstanding and would like to apologize to anyone I have been hurt by this. ”

Barcelona won the first match in the Champions League group stage 5-1 against Ferencváros, partly due to a goal from Fati. The talent scored just before half time after an assist from Frenkie de Jong. After the break, Fati delivered the assist to Philippe Coutinho’s 3-0. Next Saturday (4 p.m.) Barcelona will come into action again. Ronald Koeman’s team will take on Real Madrid at the Camp Nou.
