Mario Götze will not play on Wednesday when PSV visits Go Ahead Eagles. The attacking midfielder suffered a muscle injury against Feyenoord and has not recovered in time to travel to Deventer. Ibrahim Sangaré also has to miss the match, but the midfielder can probably play against Willem II on Saturday.

The necessary discussion arose about the substitution of Götze, who was left behind in the dressing room against Feyenoord (0-4 loss) at half time. The number ten of PSV was injured in the tenth minute against Feyenoord, Roger Schmidt announced on Tuesday. It is unclear how long Götze will be out of circulation. The attacking midfielder had an excellent start to the season and has five goals and four assists after thirteen official matches.

PSV may have Phillipp Mwene again against Go Ahead on Wednesday, who had to miss the top match against Feyenoord. Sangaré will train with the group again from Tuesday, but the visit to Deventer comes just too early for the Ivorian. Sangaré was injured with his national team and missed PSV’s last three games.

Schmidt was again asked about his substitution policy at the press conference on Tuesday, for example whether he would have switched Cody Gakpo again against Feyenoord with the knowledge of now. “Journalists like this question, but to be honest, I think completely different as a coach. It makes no sense to look back,” said the German, who received no complaints from his players about the substitutions. “No. To be honest, no one in my coaching career has ever come to me to talk about substitutions. I haven’t asked the players either. That’s not my way of working.”
