VfL Wolfsburg suffered its sixth defeat in a row on Tuesday evening. The team of trainer Florian Kohfeldt lost a lead twice at home against 1. FC Köln: 2-3. Wout Weghorst took the 2-1 ten minutes after the break, but then saw the game turn completely. Due to the defeat, Wolfsburg is back in a disappointing eleventh place. Jean-Paul Boëtius proved his worth on behalf of FSV Mainz 05. The attacker triumphed with his team 4-0 and took the last goal.

VfL Wolfsburg – 1. FC Cologne 2-3
Wolfsburg remained without a win in the last six games and even lost all of the last five games. The last time that happened was in the spring of 2004, almost eighteen years ago. This time, the home team took the lead early in the game. After eight minutes, Lukas Nmecha suddenly took a cross from the right of Ridle Baku on the shoe: 1-0. Just before that, the striker had already killed a big chance by bumping into Marvin Schwäbe from close by. The score was tied just before half-time by Anthony Modeste. The striker was in the right place for the rebound and finished from close range: 1-1.

Weghorst seemed to give Wolfsburg the lead for the second time just before half-time, but his shot was narrowly blocked. In the second act, the Dutchman succeeded. After good preparatory work by Dodi Lukebakio, it was a breeze for Weghorst to finish from close range: 2-1. The home team then tried to expand the margin further, but had to watch as Köln took the game. After Mark Uth tied the score fifteen minutes before the end, Modeste plunged Wolfsburg into mourning for the sixth game in a row with a header into the left corner: 2-3.

FSV Mainz 05 – Hertha Berlin 4-0
With Jean-Paul Boëtius on the bench and Jeremiah St. Juste out of the squad due to a shoulder injury, the Nullfunfer ahead. After twenty minutes, Silvan Widmer headed the ball a meter from the goal, where Lee Jae-Sung was ready to nod in: 1-0. It was a one-way street towards Hertha’s goal and the margin was doubled relatively late. Alexander Hack got the ball at his feet four minutes before tea and made a hit through an enemy leg: 2-0. After the break, Mainz calmly continued what it had been doing before. Widmer’s header in the 48th minute from a fine cross by Aarón Martin. The hosts continued to dominate until the final whistle and substitute Boëtius took the final score ten minutes before time. With a nice bang in the intersection, the Dutchman gave his team a 4-0 victory. Deyovaisio Zeefuik started with the visitors in the starting line-up and was substituted after half of the game.

Arminia Bielefeld – VfL Bochum 2-0
Arminia, the number seventeen in the Bundesliga, had only scored ten points from sixteen matches and could use a victory. The visitors were therefore besieged from second one. However, Arminia lacked sharpness: attempts by Alessandro Schöpf, Amos Pieper and Patrick Wimmer sailed next to or were easily defused. Shortly after the break, Masaya Okugawa finally broke the spell for the home team. The Japanese headed a cross from Wimmer low in the right corner: 1-0. We had to wait for the second, who arrived twenty minutes before time. Outstanding Wimmer caught the ball after a corner and shot the ball into the corner. The three points were no longer in danger for Arminia, bringing the club one step closer to breaking out of the relegation zone.
