Jacob Mulenga will remain at Go Ahead Eagles for at least another year, the club from Deventer announced through the official channels. The 37-year-old striker arrived at Go Ahead Eagles in October of last year and signed a contract that runs until this summer. It has now been decided to continue together for at least another year, so that Go Ahead Eagles will enter the Eredivisie with Mulenga.

“I am honored that I have signed another year and can play with Go Ahead Eagles in the Eredivisie,” Mulenga says on the Go Ahead Eagles website. “I have a good relationship with the club management of Go Ahead Eagles and the staff of the first selection. It was therefore an easy choice for me to stay with the club. We all have the same strategy and objective at Go Ahead Eagles and I am very much looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead for the club in the Eredivisie in the 2021/22 season.”

“I played in the Eredivisie with FC Utrecht for five years and I know exactly what to expect,” the experienced striker continues. “Of course I realize that Go Ahead Eagles as a club does not have a large budget. But we do have supporters who give everything and therefore are a reason for us as players to also give everything on the field. That’s what football is all about. One thing I can therefore already say to the supporters: we will play every game with passion and passion and approach every game as if it were a final.”

Mulenga made 31 appearances for Go Ahead Eagles last season, 14 of which as a starting player and in which he scored 6 times and provided 1 assist. The club from Deventer promoted with Mulenga in the ranks as number two of the Kitchen Champion Division to the Eredivisie. The 43-time Zambian international previously played in the shirt of Afrisports, Châteauroux, RC Strasbourg, FC Utrecht, Adana Demirspor, Cangzhou Mighty Lions and Liaoning FC.
