Giorgio Chiellini hopes that Matthijs de Ligt will also play for Juventus in the coming years. The 37-year-old defender of la Vecchia Signora focuses on his agent Mino Raiola, who has recently hinted at a possible departure from De Ligt. Chiellini has been hugely impressed by his teammate in the past year and a half and has a striking nickname for the 31-time international of the Dutch national team.

In an interview with DAZN Chiellini indicates that he is happy with De Ligt. “He is very strong, I call him Thor (a superhero from the Marvel movies, ed.).” The captain of Juventus, who has been under contract with the club from Turin since 2005, does not yet dare the Dutch defender in a row with greats from la Vecchia Signora to put. “Whether he is an heir to the BBC (Bonucci, Barzagli, Chiellini, ed.)? If Matthijs had been an Italian, it would have been easier to keep him at the club for years to come.”

Chiellini therefore appeals to De Ligt’s agent to bind the fifteen-year younger defender to Juventus for longer. “I hope Raiola will allow Matthijs to stay in Turin for a few more years. He has everything. He is 22 years old, but has the mentality of a 30-year-old and wants to get better every day,” said the reigning European champion. Chiellini is again a fixture at Juventus this season, although he only played seven minutes in the Champions League against Chelsea (1-0 win).

Raiola closed in on a big interview in September Tuttosport does not matter that De Ligt is leaving Turin. At the end of the season, an escape clause will come into effect, which means that the centre-back can be picked up for 150 million euros. The ex-Ajacied stayed on the bench for ninety minutes in the top match against Internazionale (1-1) last Sunday. Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri also preferred the pair Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci during the previous top duels with Napoli and AC Milan in the heart of the defense. The Italian manager confirmed on Tuesday that De Ligt will appear at kick-off against Sassuolo on Wednesday evening.
