Georges Mikautadze gives a telling answer to a question about contact with Ajax

After FC Metz's victory over RC Lens (2-1), Georges Mikautadze briefly spoke about the current contact he has with Ajax. The 23-year-old attacker says he has not heard anything from his Amsterdam employer since he returned to Ligue 1, to the disbelief of a journalist from Prime Video.

Mikautadze is in top form at Metz. The Ajax loanee scored two goals in the home game against Lens on Friday evening. Mikautadze, who also scored twice against Marco Bizot's Stade Brest last weekend, now has nine Ligue 1 goals this season.

In France people do not seem to understand why Mikautadze did not succeed at Ajax. Due to his good form, journalist Samuel Ollivier asks whether the attacker has heard anything from his boss, after which he starts laughing knowingly. “No no. Metz has now collected 26 points and is now only two points behind the safe fifteenth place, which is currently occupied by FC Nantes. Thanks to his goals, Mikautadze is no longer an issue for the supporters of the French low-flyer.

Mikautadze came to Ajax last summer for no less than 16 million euros. In the Johan Cruijff ArenA, the right leg failed to perform under both Maurice Steijn and John van 't Schip. He played a total of 338 minutes on behalf of Ajax, spread over 9 official appearances.

Remarkably, Mikautadze was in good form during his time as an Ajax player during the international match with Georgia. For example, the technician was accurate four times in the friendly match against Thailand (8-0 win) and once against Cyprus (4-0 win). A month later, Mikautadze fell through the ice again at Ajax during the embarrassing cup match with the amateurs of USV Hercules (3-2 defeat).
