Wilfred Genee has apologized to fellow presenter Marcel Maijer. The presenter of Veronica Offside criticized Maijer's presentation skills during the football talk program a week ago, but later realized that this might not be very useful.

Where Genee can be seen as a presenter at Today Inside and Veronica Offside, Maijer takes care of the Champions League matches on RTL 7. Genee decided a week ago to during Veronica Offside to make some jokes about his fellow presenter. Jan Boskamp and Wesley Sneijder would analyze some Champions League matches at Maijer a day later.

“Making a whole broadcast with Marcel Maijer was fun. Making a broadcast from start to finish. Tap…,” Genee started. Wesley Sneijder replied: “Tak.” Jan Boskamp then stood up for Maijer: “Why are you laughing at that boy again? You really are a worthless guy.”

“Shit, I forgot we're on TV. We were just in the locker room. I'm mixing things up. I shouldn't have done that. Stupid of me,” said a joking Genee.

However, Wim Kieft agreed with the criticism of Maijer. “If you are presenting and you want to do a match analysis with two analysts in the studio, you cannot think of the questions in advance. You know all about it Wilfred. If you get an answer that you might not expect, or that doesn't quite answer your question, you'll have to improvise a bit. Not everyone is equally good at that.”

“Marcel Maijer is not very good at that, you say?” Genee asked Kieft, who then replied: “Well, I don't think it's his strength if I can be very honest.”

Genee then made another joke about Maijer. “Where does Marcel's strength lie then? No, sorry, I have to stop now. This is so lame.” Boskamp looked on, shaking his head: “You are really becoming a piece of poison. Unbelieveable.”

Apologies from Genee

On Monday evening, Sneijder decided to stand up for Maijer by confronting Genee. “You're a weakling too, aren't you!”, the former professor began. “First you sit here in this program and criticize Marcel and then you call him.”

“Yes, I called him,” Genee responded. “It was a bit lame of me. We were all fooling around a week ago before the broadcast. I thought it was a bit silly of me to have implemented it during the broadcast. That's possible, right?”

The presenter's answer raised Sneijder's eyebrows: “We have to criticize everyone here for you. Then you say before the broadcast: 'Fireworks, eh.' I was sitting with Marcel Maijer the next day and he didn't like the fact that you were making jokes about him on television.”
