Lutsharel Geertruida has been included in Feyenoord’s nineteen-man selection for Tuesday’s Conference League match with Maccabi Haifa. The right-footed defender has not played in the main squad since mid-May due to a knee injury. Geertruida made his comeback on Saturday in Feyenoord Under-21. João Teixeira and Marcos Senesi also return in the selection of trainer Arne Slot, while Cyriel Dessers can make his official debut for Feyenoord.

Dessers was attracted to Feyenoord in the final phase of the transfer period. However, due to the international match period, the attacker has not yet been able to make playing minutes for the Rotterdam club. Luis Sinisterra is back from his international obligations with Colombia and will immediately join Feyenoord. Reiss Nelson, who has been hired from Arsenal, is not yet match fit and is therefore missing from Slot’s selection, just like Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

In this way Feyenoord wants to prevent the attacker from Iran possibly not being able to play for the national team in the future, something that could be a consequence for Iranian athletes who compete against Israeli athletes. He is also excluded from the match selection by Feyenoord for this reason at the home game against Maccabi Haifa in December.

The full selection of Feyenoord:
