Supporters of Grêmio went all out on Sunday evening. After the home defeat to Palmeiras (1-3), supporters destroyed the cabin where the referee can review the video footage. Fans also clashed with stewards, while players watched from the catacombs.
The anger among supporters probably had to do with the course of the match against Palmeiras. Grêmio took the lead in the eleventh minute, but a penalty kick brought the visitors alongside just before the break. Later in the game, Palmeiras scored twice more; with a 1-2 score, four minutes before the end, a goal by Grêmio was disallowed for alleged offside.

Grêmio is in nineteenth place in the Série A due to the defeat. The club is experiencing its worst season since the promotion of 2005. With 26 points from 27 games, Grêmio has to fear relegation, although the competitors have played one or two more games. The virtually safe number sixteen Bahia has seven points more than Grêmio and two games more behind him.
