Billy Gilmour has failed to win the hearts of Norwich City supporters over the past six months. On the contrary, because the twenty-year-old Chelsea mercenary was booed by his own fans on Tuesday afternoon. In the dramatic game against Crystal Palace (3-0 loss), the away supporters sang: “Fuck off back to Chelsea!

Gilmour did not get to play at Chelsea and was sent to Norwich on loan last summer to gain experience at the highest level. The Scottish international had a hopeful start with the Canaries, but has recently shared in the malaise at the bottom of the Premier League. Norwich lost their last five games in a row and on Thursday afternoon against Crystal Palace, the fans were targeting Gilmour, who has been in the starting lineup for the last eight games.

Gilmour recently made headlines in another remarkable way, as the young midfielder appears to have played with a fever against Aston Villa (0-2 loss) on December 14. That said Dan Smith, the manager of Norwich, at a press conference last Friday. Gilmour played with a temperature of 38.4 degrees. Smith has since said he regrets being ‘negligent’ with his player’s well-being.
