Ajax will have to face FK Vojvodina on Thursday night in the preliminary round of the Europa League under Owen Wijndal and Bertrand Traoré. The former is recovering from a contusion, while Traoré's paperwork is not yet in order. In addition, the attacker is not yet fit enough.

“Traoré still has to deal with paperwork,” Farioli said about the Burkina Faso attacker, who was recently presented as the Amsterdammers' first summer signing. “He will not be part of the match selection.” The Telegraph reported five days ago that Traoré's paperwork had been arranged on time.

“We hope to have him available again from the beginning of next week. From the moment he trains with the team, we also want to know more about his (physical, ed.) condition.” Farioli indicated shortly after Traoré's arrival that the attacker is a special case physically.

“We are looking forward to having him train with the team, but we are especially looking forward to tomorrow,” Farioli says with a smile on his face. The Italian will also not be able to count on Wijndal. The left back suffered an arm injury in the friendly against Olympiacos and appeared after the break wearing a sling.

“We will evaluate today (Wednesday, ed.) before the final selection is put together. There are no major issues, except Owen. He has a contusion and is not available for training today. The rest is fine.”

Steven Berghuis is well on his way back to 100 percent fitness. The right winger and attacking midfielder of Ajax is ready to start, Farioli confirms. “He is one of the players who followed a specific program, because it took him a while to get used to our training methods.”

“The majority of the players have reached the fitness level as planned. Steven is making up for the minutes he was unable to play, but he is fit and has been training with us all week. He is one of the players who can play a role in tomorrow's match (Thursday, ed.).”
