Francesco Farioli, the new Ajax coach, wants to reunite with OGC Nice striker Evann Guessand in Amsterdam. The 23-year-old striker, who has played for Ivory Coast on one occasion, is contracted to his French employer until mid-2026 and is, according to Transfer market Worth 8 million euros.

The reporting from France comes from Foot Mercatothe medium that recently also had the scoop on the transfer issues surrounding Lutsharel Geertruida and the French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain.

Farioli would like to bring Guessand to Ajax. The Amsterdammers are looking for an extra striker behind Brian Brobbey next summer, as it is quite possible that Chuba Akpom will leave. The name of Wout Weghorst was heavily linked to Ajax in recent weeks, but it has been quiet for a while now.

Guessand could therefore be considered an alternative to Weghorst, as Farioli knows the 1.88 meter tall attacking leader from his time at Nice. Guessand is a youth product of the number five of the Ligue 1. In recent years, the striker played 67 matches in the first team of Nice, in which he was good for 8 goals and 5 assists. Guessand also played on loan for FC Nantes and Lausanne-Sport.

Under Farioli, Guessand played a total of 1,752 minutes last season, spread over 38 official matches. The Ajaccio-born attacker scored seven goals and provided two assists.

Earlier, several Dutch media reported that Farioli advised his new club to bring Pablo Rosario back to Amsterdam. The 27-year-old defender and midfielder is still on contract in Nice for another year. The French are said to want around 7 million euros for Rosario.

Farioli wanted to oppose ESPN little about his former pupil. “Rosario? I don’t know if he will return to the Netherlands. It’s not about the players who are not here now, but I am a fan of the player and he was very important to me at Nice. But it’s not nice to talk about players from other clubs.”
