Mike Maignan injured his finger three weeks before the start of the European Championship. Several media outlets report this, including: L'Équipe and Fabrizio Romano. Further research must now reveal how serious the Frenchman's injury is and whether this will jeopardize the European Championship.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper suffered the injury during the training of his club AC Milan on Thursday morning. Initial tests have shown that his finger is not broken in any case.

His finger is dislocated. Maignan will now have to wear a brace for a week, after which further tests will be done. Based on this, a final decision will be made regarding participation in the European Championship.

If Maignan cannot come along, that will be a major setback lesson Bleus. Since Hugo Lloris retired from international football after the 2022 World Cup, Maignan has been the French's first goalkeeper.

Logically, the fourteen-time international is also part of the final European Championship selection that national coach Didier Deschamps announced last week.

In addition to Maignan, this consists of two other goalkeepers: Alphonse Aréola (West Ham United) and Brice Samba (RC Lens). Deschamps has until June 7 to make any changes.

Maignan has not played for Milan since April 22, partly due to a muscle injury. He also has to miss the last match of the season, Saturday against Salernitana.
