Erwin van de Looi has announced his final selection for the duels of the Dutch Juniors with Young Bulgaria and Young Switzerland. The selection has no fewer than four debutants with Jan Paul van Hecke (Blackburn Rovers), Elayis Tavsan (NEC), Milan van Ewijk (sc Heerenveen) and Thomas Buitink (Vitesse). Ryan Gravenberch is also part of the final selection, after Louis van Gaal left the midfielder of Ajax to the left for the ‘big’ the Dutch. Despite his dramatic performance against Club Brugge (1-3 defeat), Kjell Scherpen ‘just’ belongs to Van de Looi’s goalkeeper trio.

Scherpen didn’t look good in all three goals against Club Brugge, which brought him to scathing criticism in the Belgian media. Nevertheless, the goalkeeper of KV Oostende can decide with Fabian de Keijzer (FC Utrecht) and Bart Verbruggen (Anderlecht) who is under the bar against Young Bulgaria and Young Switzerland. Ajax is purveyor to the selection with four players: in addition to Gravenberch, Devyne Rensch, Brian Brobbey and Kenneth Taylor are also among the chosen ones.

The friendly match with Young Bulgaria, which will be played in Sofia, will take place on March 25 at 6.45 pm Dutch time. The match against Young Switzerland (on March 29) is vital for the Dutch Juniors. The Swiss peers are number two in the European Championship qualifying group and are therefore a direct competitor in the hunt for a ticket for the European Championship 2023 in Romania and Georgia.
