Fortuna Sittard supports a crowdfunding campaign by MVV Maastricht. The latter club is in financial dire straits and needs the support of football-loving Netherlands to stay afloat. Fortuna, MVV's archrival, shares the promotion on social media channels.

MVV is having financial problems and still has to pay significant amounts to the municipality. To get a push in the right direction, the club from Maastricht has started a crowdfunding campaign. Remarkably, MVV is supported by its archrival. “Better a good neighbor than a distant friend,” Fortuna writes on his social media channels.

“It's literally five to twelve,” MVV writes on the crowdfunding page. “Our Maastricht football club is in dire straits. Has been for more than 122 years us MVVke our pride and inextricably linked to the culture and history of the city of Maastricht.â€

“The club of the star on the chest, Brokamp, the Boschpoort and its loyal fans. This people's club should never be lost. It's time for action.â€

“With this joint crowdfunding campaign, all MVV supporter initiatives have come together and are asking you for a donation. So that we can contribute an important part to the rescue of the proud of Mestreech! Every amount counts.â€

The club's survival is therefore at stake. The Limburgers are in better shape on a sporting level than on a financial level.

After 32 rounds, MVV occupies twelfth place in the Kitchen Champion Division and the team of coach Maurice Verberne still has a chance of a place in the play-offs for promotion to the Eredivisie. The gap with number eight Jong AZ is three points.
