Jens Odgaard returns to the Eredivisie. RKC Waalwijk is close to a rental agreement with Sassuolo for the 22-year-old center striker, according to transfer market expert Nicolò Schira. The last formalities are currently being completed, after which Odgaard will report for his second period in the Netherlands.

In the 2019/20 season, Odgaard was already leased by Sassuolo to sc Heerenveen. In Friesland, the Dane was usually a basic player and he came to 7 goals and 1 assist in 27 official games. The season came to an abrupt end at the beginning of March 2020 due to the corona crisis. Then followed a disappointing six months for Odgaard on a rental basis at the Swiss FC Lugano, only to be loaned to Pescara in January of this year. He played 19 games for the Serie B club, producing both one goal and one assist.

At RKC Waalwijk, Odgaard will compete with Michiel Kramer. The 32-year-old striker left ADO Den Haag and was recruited by the Noord-Brabants on a free transfer this week. RKC proved decisive in the transfer market this summer and also surprisingly took over goalkeeper Joel Pereira from Manchester United. Thierry Lutonda, Iliass Bel Hassani, Alexander Büttner and Issam El Maach were also added to the selection.
