In 2023, social media will be a cornerstone of society. Top players such as Lionel Messi, Memphis Depay and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as clubs from home and abroad, give (almost) daily insight into the ins and outs via Instagram, Twitter or other internet channels. Special football moments also travel across the planet at lightning speed. Football zone lists the craziest, most beautiful and most striking posts on social media in the section VZ Social.

Former Premier League striker Benik Afobe has appealed to his social media followers in hopes of finding the cleaner cleaning his mother’s house. The woman, a Romanian, is said to have taken £400,000 worth of jewelery and other items from the home. Afobe then opened a manhunt and revealed, among other things, the cleaning lady’s passport.

“This woman stole £400,000 worth of jewelery from my family, from my mother’s house in Elstree (in England, ed.). If anyone knows her, please let me know as soon as possible! If you are going to rob someone for a half a million pounds worth of valuables, at least take your social media offline.” One of the photos shows that the woman is from Romania.

Afobe, whose parents are from Congo-Kinshasa, played his entire football career in England. He was under contract with Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth, among others. The former striker played 63 times in the Premier League, in which he scored ten times and acted as a declarant four times. He played four times for the national team of Congo-Kinshasa.
