Bilal El Khannouss is interested in Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool, according to reports The newspapaer and The last news. The nineteen-year-old trendsetter from KRC Genk was linked with a transfer to Ajax last year.

El Khannouss is still in Genk until mid-2027, which means he can earn the number five of the Jupiler Pro League a nice amount. The three-time international of Morocco is according to Transfer market worth about 22 million euros.

Genk hopes to keep El Khannouss for another six months, although Atlético in particular wants to strike as quickly as possible. Trainer Diego Simeone would prefer to add the right leg to his selection in January. However, according to the Belgian media, Genk only wants to cooperate in a summer transfer.

The Smurfs want to make El Khannouss the most expensive outgoing transfer ever. That club record is still held by Sander Berge, who earned no less than 25 million euros with his transfer to Sheffield United in January 2020.

The clubs are lining up for El Khannouss, whose father confirmed at the end of 2022 that Ajax was interested. “Yes, it is true that they are interested. They have been following Bilal since he was thirteen, but he is in an excellent position at KRC Genk and is now concentrating on that.”

El Khannouss now seems unattainable for the Dutch record champion. A summer transfer to Leverkusen, Liverpool or Madrid is more likely. El Khannouss is currently in Ivory Coast with Morocco for the Africa Cup. During the first two group matches, the Belgian-born talent had to settle for a substitute appearance.

So far, El Khannouss has played 76 official matches for Genk, scoring 4 goals and providing 10 assists. The attacking midfielder is represented by his family.
