Shona Shukrula is officially together with Jeff Hardeveld, the official of the KNVB and the left back of FC Emmen announced through their social media channels. Thirty-year-old Shukrula is happy that the news is out. “It’s official @jeffhardeveld“, writes the referee cum linesman on Instagram.
Shukrula aims to become the first female referee in the Eredivisie and took a step in that direction this season. At the beginning of September, she was appointed as the first female fourth official in the Kitchen Champion Division at the match between FC Eindhoven and Telstar. She has been whistling for the KNVB since 2009 and has been one of the FIFA referees since 2017. She also works as a public prosecutor.
Shukrula may have met her boyfriend at the stadium, because she was present during a Hardeveld game early in the season. The Emmen defender was sent off that day against FC Eindhoven with a red card and also saw his team lose 0-1.
