Franck Ribéry is no longer a Fiorentina player, the Serie A club announced on Thursday morning. The now 38-year-old wing attacker, since 2019 associated with La Viola, had a contract with Fiorentina until June 30 and it looks like he will leave Florence with a free transfer status.

Ribéry chose to leave Bayern Munich in 2019 after 12 years of loyal service. Fiorentina seized his chance and offered the veteran from France a two-year contract. In the past two seasons, Ribéry has scored 5 goals and 10 assists in 51 games in all competitions. In October 2019, the attacker caused a stir by pushing an assistant referee during the league game against Lazio (1-2 defeat). Ribéry did not agree with a referee decision and made it clear along the line. It resulted in a three-game suspension.
