Atlético Madrid and Feyenoord will resume talks about David Hancko in the coming days, according to journalist Matteo Moretto on behalf of RelevoThe 26-year-old defender indicated earlier this week that he was open to leaving, but the new head coach Brian Priske would prefer to see him stay at De Kuip.

Feyenoord is in a good negotiating position regarding Hancko in any case. The 42-times international of Slovakia has had a good European Championship behind him, is contracted until mid-2028 and, according to Transfer market worth at least 35 million euros.

Hancko spoke to Football International after Slovakia's elimination from the European Championship about a possible transfer. “I can focus more on it now, because now I can put the European Championship aside. Things have been mentioned in the media, but I will first talk to my agent. We can talk about that in the next two weeks and then also with Feyenoord. We'll see.”

Hancko is open to leaving, but he also doesn't think it would be a disaster to play for Feyenoord next season. “I've said many times that I'm very happy at Feyenoord. I love the club, the fans, the stadium and everyone at the club.” The defender understands that Feyenoord wants to earn money from him. “I have a contract with Feyenoord, they have to approve it too. Of course, they have to be happy with the transfer fee.”

According to Relevo is not yet the case. Feyenoord is aiming for a transfer fee between 35 and 40 million euros and wants to break the transfer record, while Atlético is currently stuck at an amount of around 25 million euros. The Madrilenians hope to come closer to an agreement with Feyenoord this week.

Meanwhile, Hancko's possible departure was also discussed during Priske's first press conference at Feyenoord on Wednesday afternoon. The Danish coach was asked if he had contact with Hancko about a possible outgoing transfer. “Of course he said something about that, but I can't share that with you.”

Hancko is no stranger to Priske. The Slovakian worked under him at Sparta Prague for two months before his transfer to Feyenoord in August 2022. Hancko then left for De Kuip for 8.3 million euros, where he has proven to be an indispensable link at Feyenoord since day one.
