Feyenoord has to do without Jens Toornstra in the home game against Ajax next week. The midfielder received his fifth yellow card of the season in the away game against ADO Den Haag on Sunday afternoon and is therefore suspended for the Classic. Moreover, Bryan Linssen was injured; his employability is still questionable. Steven Berghuis is in the second game of a suspension against Ajax.

Toornstra received a yellow card from referee Pol van Boekel in minute 33 for a foul on John Goossens. He tried to interfere with the build-up of ADO, but went too hard on his fellow midfielder. A few minutes earlier, Linssen had dropped out with a groin injury. The attacker went to the grass after 24 minutes, was treated on the field by a club doctor and was replaced five minutes later by João Carlos Teixeira.

Toornstra is one of the players most often used by trainer Dick Advocaat this season. Prior to the game with ADO, he was on the field for 3123 minutes this season. Only Berghuis (3161 minutes) and Marcos Senesi (3222 minutes) were ahead of Toornstra. Linssen is in fifth place with 2517 minutes, just behind Lutsharel Geertruida (2587 minutes). Toornstra had a base place in the last 25 official matches of Feyenoord; Linssen in the last 12.
