Feyenoord looks at Sven Mijnans with more than average interest, it reports Football International. According to the weekly, it seems that a bid is currently being prepared for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder from Sparta Rotterdam. There is much more interest, but Feyenoord is ahead in the race for Mijnans’ signature.

Mijnans can move up both nationally and internationally. Sparta is aware of this and knows that the number 10 will probably be untenable. Mijnans is fixed until mid-2024, which means that next summer could be the last moment to leave a nice transfer fee to the midfielder. However, it seems that Mijnans will leave the Castle Club this month.

Remarkably enough, Sparta picked up Mijnans at the age of eighteen from the amateurs of VV Spijkenisse. Before that he had played a season at ADO Den Haag in the youth academy. The midfielder made his debut two years after coming to Rotterdam in Sparta’s first team. The counter now stands at 85 appearances, in which he scored 8 goals and 12 assists. This season is by far his most productive with three goals and five assists in eighteen Eredivisie matches to date.

After the game at NEC (0-0), Sparta coach Maurice Steijn acknowledged in front of the camera ESPN that there is serious interest from Feyenoord. “I am well aware that there is interest in Mijnans,” said the coach, who also confirmed that Feyenoord is not the only club interested. “I hope he stays, because we are having a very good season, in which he is an important pawn for us. But you also know that Sparta is a club where players develop and that if clubs come along for certain players, you “She has to let go. Sparta lives on that. You know that in advance. He can certainly take the step. He has developed very well in many aspects. I think he is ready for a new step.”
