Feyenoord has strengthened itself with Patrik Wälemark, the Rotterdammers announced via a message on Twitter. The twenty-year-old right winger annex attacking midfielder is taken over from BK Häcken and has signed a contract for four and a half years, which links him to Feyenoord until the summer of 2026. It was previously reported that Feyenoord is paying millions to bring Wälemark to the Netherlands. BK Häcken reports via its website about the most expensive outgoing transfer in club history.

Wälemark was already in Rotterdam last weekend for the medical examination and was in the stands during the game between Feyenoord and Vitesse (0-1). “Everything has happened so fast, I can hardly believe it yet”, responds Wälemark on the website of BK Häcken. “I’ve heard good things about Feyenoord and Rotterdam, it immediately felt good when I spoke to everyone there. Maybe even better than I thought. It has always been my dream to play abroad. This is a big step.”

Feyenoord Transfermarkt reported that Feyenoord pays a fixed amount of 3.25 million euros. The transfer fee for the right winger annex attacking midfielder of BK Häcken can increase by one million euros via bonuses, while the club from Sweden has negotiated a resale percentage of fifteen percent. With the fixed transfer fee of 3.25 million euros, Wälemark is in the top twenty most expensive purchases of all time from Feyenoord. Club Brugge and Sampdoria would also have bid on Wälemark, but see the Rotterdam team run off with the loot.

aftonbaldet reported that BK Häcken had received bids between 2 and 2.5 million euros. The Swedish club gave everyone zero at the time and used an asking price of ‘four to five million euros’. Ajax, Atalanta, Sassuolo, Rubin Kazan, FK Rostov and Anderlecht would also have ‘showed interest’ in the recent past, but were not as concrete as the three aforementioned clubs.

Wälemark has been playing for BK Häcken since January 2020, which took him over from Qviding FIF at the time. Since then he has played 54 games for the Swedish midfielder, in which he was good for twelve goals and thirteen assists. With 9 goals and 7 assists in 29 official games, Walemark has also had an excellent season, after which the rumor about a transfer quickly started. In the end, Feyenoord drew the longest straw.

Technical director of Feyenoord Frank Arnesen confirmed last Friday Football International in addition to the arrival of Wälemark, also that the arrival of Cole Bassett to Rotterdam is complete. The American midfielder comes over from Colorado Rapids and serves as an alternative to Riechedly Bazoer, whose arrival proved financially unfeasible. He is probably rented for a year and a half.
