Latest update:

Santiago Gimenez should become Napoli's new attack leader, it writes La Gazzetta dello Sport Tuesday afternoon. The striker is reportedly in pole position to become the successor to Victor Osimhen, who is likely to leave Naples soon. Feyenoord would have a price tag of fifty million euros.

The Italian medium writes that Napoli sees Gimenez as the 'perfect' profile for the point of attack. The reigning national champion of Italy has made the Mexican target number one.

Napoli is reportedly not shocked by the asking price that Feyenoord charges. The Rotterdammers want to realize the most expensive outgoing transfer ever with a sale of Gimenez and hope to receive fifty million euros for him.

That amount is probably not a big problem for Napoli, it writes La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian superpower thinks it can sell Osimhen for an amount of between 120 and 130 million euros.

Gimenez is in his second season at Feyenoord and has managed to score well in the current year. The 24-time Mexican international was in excellent form, especially in the first half of the season. So far this season he has scored 21 goals in 25 Eredivisie games.

Feyenoord took over the attacker in the summer of 2022 from Cruz Azul, which was able to receive an amount of six million euros thanks to that deal. Gimenez needed some time to settle in in South Rotterdam, but eventually grew into an undisputed basic player.

Feyenoord may already have Gimenez's successor in place. Last summer, general manager Dennis te Kloese decided to spend the necessary millions on Ayase Ueda of Cercle Brugge. The Japanese came over for a maximum amount of ten million euros.
