The question remains whether Marcus Pedersen's time as a Feyenoord player is finally over. The Norwegian back is rented this season by Sassuolo, which also negotiated a 'mandatory' purchase option. But it appears that this purchase option is not completely mandatory, writes 1908.nl.

If Sassuolo is relegated, Pederson will 'normally' return to Feyenoord. So the Rotterdammers will keep a close eye on the relegation battle in Serie A.

Sassuolo is currently sixteenth, with twenty points. Numbers 18 and 19, Hellas Verona and Cagliari respectively, both have 18 points. Sassuolo is therefore only two points above the relegation zone.

It would be a hard blow for Feyenoord. According to the fan medium, the purchase option amounts to six million (excluding variables), but it is not an unrealistic scenario that the Rotterdammers will miss out on that amount.

If Sassuolo is unexpectedly relegated, Feyenoord can forget about those six million. Pedersen is currently a permanent member of Alessio Dionisi's regular team.

Although Sassuolo started the season well, it has now completely descended into the danger zone. Only one of the last ten matches was won.

The 23-year-old full-back was good for an assist in the match against Torino last Saturday, but his team again failed to score a three-pointer. The final score was 1-1 against mid-table Torino.
