Feyenoord’s planned training camp in southern Spain is cancelled. The Rotterdammers report a corona outbreak within the club through the official channels. Due to ‘several infections’, Feyenoord is forced to cancel the trip.

The plane with which Feyenoord would travel to the Spanish city of Jerez de la Frontera would actually take off on Monday, but that will not take place. The Rotterdammers report that there are infections within the staff as well as the player selection. All people who tested positive have been quarantined. Due to the risk of further spread of the virus within staff and selection, it is decided to stay in the Netherlands.

It is unclear whether the practice match that Feyenoord would play during the training camp will take place. On Saturday, January 8, a duel with Club Brugge is scheduled in Marbella, which has not yet been canceled for the time being. It is therefore possible that Feyenoord will travel especially for that purpose. On Saturday, January 15, Feyenoord will resume the Eredivisie with a home game against Vitesse.
