Feyenoord has not yet completely given up hope for a Classic with an audience. The cabinet is aiming for an extension of the corona measures in force, but Feyenoord is still preparing to welcome supporters against Ajax on Sunday. On Tuesday evening, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister Hugo de Jonge will give a press conference in which the plans for the coming weeks will be announced.

Feyenoord is preparing for a Classic with and without an audience. “It would be bad if we didn’t do that,” a club spokesperson said General Newspaper. “We are preparing for both scenarios so that we can switch quickly ‘just in case’. Hope is not given up yet.” The public has not been allowed to participate in matches for a month now. Because the current corona measures expire on Saturday, there is a small chance that the public may be present on Sunday.

If the ban on the public lapses, Feyenoord can start ticket sales quickly. “But a lot of places have already been sold to season ticket holders,” said the spokesperson. Feyenoord and Ajax meet on Sunday at 2.30 pm. They have both collected 36 points and can therefore give each other a big blow in the title fight.
