João Carlos Teixeira is still making a good impression in the Feyenoord shirt. The 27-year-old midfielder, who came over from Vitória Guimarães, produced two assists just before the international period, for example, during the 1-4 victory against Willem II. The Portuguese already sees a clear difference between the Eredivisie and the Portuguese Liga NOS.

“Even the teams at the bottom of the rankings want to play football”, says Teixeira in conversation with RTV Rijnmond about the Eredivisie. “In Portugal there are many teams that fall back with many players at the same time, which does not always make it more fun. But here every team is looking for goals and there are also many. For a player like me, that is very nice to play football.”

Teixeira was in the base at Feyenoord for the first time against Willem II, but the creative person says he is not sure of a base place under Dick Advocaat. “You can never be sure about your spot, I just have to perform weekly and be consistent. That’s the most important thing now,” said Teixeira, who regrets having to play in an empty stadium for the time being.

“You miss the singing, the screaming. That gives energy and adrenaline. That makes a big difference. But it’s the rules and given everything that happens we have to accept it and fight the virus together,” says the Feyenoord acquisition, who has been informed that the rules in the Netherlands regarding the corona virus have been tightened again. “To be honest, I wasn’t out that much anymore. So it won’t make any difference to me.”
