Fenerbahçe booked a victory over Hatayspor in the Süper Lig on Thursday. Thanks to goals from Diego Rossi and Filip Novak, coach Vitor Pereira’s team won 1-2 in the Antakya Atatürk Stadium. With the win, Fenerbahçe takes the lead in the Turkish Süper Lig from Altay, while Hatayspor remains fifth. Ferdi Kadioglu played the full ninety minutes on behalf of the away team.

Hatayspor had the first big chance of the match after five minutes of play. Ayoub El Kaabi was sent into the depths and then gave a custom cross to Mame Diouf. The striker saw his header from close range then land on the roof of the goal. While the opportunities in the opening phase were for the home team, it was the team of coach Vítor Pereira that took the lead. It was Rossi who scored his first goal for Fenerbahçe. The attacker was found by Enner Valencia and was able to finish from five meters in an acrobatic way: 0-1.

Immediately afterwards, the Italian had the chance to score his second of the afternoon. This time, however, he shot goalkeeper Munir from close range. After half an hour of play, Fenerbahçe managed to double the margin. Valencia was released on a corner and were able to extend the ball to Novak, who then scored from close range: 2-0. Standout Valencia had a huge opportunity just before half-time to secure the victory for Fenerbahçe before half-time. The attacker passed goalkeeper Munir, but his shot was then turned on the goal line by a Hatayspor defender, leaving Turkey’s number five in the competition in the game.

Hatayspor handed out a few pinpricks after the break and the connecting goal hung more and more in the air. Dylan Saint-Louis finally brought back the tension in the match twenty minutes before the end. The attacker was able to appreciate a pass from Kamil Ahmet Cörekci and left goalkeeper Altay Bayindir without a chance: 1-2. A final offensive by the home team then failed to materialize, causing Fenerbahçe to take the lead in the Turkish Süper Lig again from Altay.
