Jelle Goes is no longer the Manager Academy of FC Utrecht. The club from the Dom city reports on Monday morning that he will be the technical director of the Israeli Football Association from 15 May. Fifty-year-old Goes has been associated with the current number seven in the Eredivisie since March 2018. FC Utrecht will be looking for a suitable successor in the near future.

“Jelle has taken good steps with the Academy in recent years, and has brought the youth academy to the level we are now”, technical director Jordy Zuidam explains on Monday in a response to the club site. “The basic level of the training has grown under his leadership and with all superstructure teams we play in the top of the Netherlands. We also continued to build with Jong FC Utrecht and we see development of the players. In addition, Jelle played an important role in the intensify cooperation with RAC clubs and set up pre-academies. ” Zuidam emphasizes that a three-year collaboration with Goes was deliberately chosen at the time, in order to take the training to a higher level.

“However, we also knew about Jelle’s ambitions to function in other positions in the football world”, Zuidam explains the situation. “We were in conversation with Jelle about the future, in which he has been transparent about the interest of the Israeli Football Association. Jelle has indicated to us that he wants to go for this opportunity. We obviously wish him every success and thank him for his efforts. at FC Utrecht and the youth academy in particular “, the Utrecht director concludes. Goes is delighted with his new adventure abroad.

“In recent years we have been able to take great steps in the development of the (future) talents and trainers at the Academy,” said the outgoing trainer. “I am grateful that in my position as Manager Academy I have been able to make a major contribution to this. I can look back on a great period and a pleasant cooperation with Jordy, the trainers and the other staff members. From 15 May I will focus on the development of football in Israel. ” In the past, Goes worked as the national coach of Estonia and in the training courses of PSV, CSKA Moscow and the KNVB.
