FC Utrecht will rent Nick Venema to VVV-Venlo for the rest of the season, both clubs announced. The 22-year-old striker has to add the necessary goals to the Limburgers, who are disappointingly twelfth in the Kitchen Champion Division after a very difficult first half of the season. “I was open to a rental period and then VVV is of course a very nice club,” says Venema in the press release.

Venema already proved himself this season in the Kitchen Champion Division, as he scored eight goals in nineteen appearances for Jong FC Utrecht. He made two of them salient enough twelve days ago in the won match against his new club VVV (1-2 for Jong FC Utrecht). “I recently was able to score in Venlo and I am looking forward to doing that on behalf of VVV in the second half of the season,” Venema says.

Four years ago, Venema broke through from the youth academy in the first team of FC Utrecht, but he never became a permanent fixture and had not played in the main force for two years. He spent the past few seasons on a rental basis at Almere City FC and NAC Breda. Venema was a valued force at those clubs and has already proven himself at the second Dutch level, Jos Luhukay also sees. “Nick is a very good player and his statistics are excellent,” said the coach of VVV.

“He scores very easily and we can of course use that in the hunt for a ticket for the play-offs,” Luhukay continues. “The talks with Nick were very positive and we are happy that he is finishing the season on a rental basis in Venlo.” Incidentally, VVV also announced at the same time that Guus Hupperts’ contract has been terminated. The attacker was brought in on a free transfer last summer, but was unable to convince.
