Latest update:

Michel Doesburg will become the new head of scouting at FC Twente, the club announced on Friday. He will take office on February 1 and is the successor to Patrick Dusby, who recently decided to leave Twente after almost four seasons. The Tukkers take over Doesburg from Ajax, where he was active as professional scouting coordinator.

Doesburg played as a footballer for FC Haarlem, SC Heerenveen and AZ, among others, before he started a career after professional football in Alkmaar. Between 2003 and 2018 he worked in various positions at AZ.

Doesburg worked for Ajax between 2018 and now. In Amsterdam he was active as a professional scouting coordinator, making him responsible for the scouting of the first team of Ajax and Jong Ajax. Now Doesburg is making the switch to Twente.

“I am looking forward to working at FC Twente and being part of the club,” says the new head of scouting of the Tukkers. “FC Twente's ambitions appeal to me enormously.”

Arnold Bruggink, technical director at Grolsch Veste, is enthusiastic about Doesburg's appointment, he says on the club website. “Michel has a lot of experience and expertise in the field of scouting.”

“As he says himself, he is very enthusiastic about the club's ambitions,” Bruggink continues. “That suits us. He played an important role in scouting at AZ and Ajax for years. We look forward to welcoming him to FC Twente in the short term.”

Jan Streuer
Doesburg will also have to deal with Jan Streuer at his new employer. The former technical director would leave Twente after Bruggink's appointment, but stayed on in a supporting role. Last Monday, almost a year after Streuer announced that he would be leaving Enschede, it was announced that the former left winger will continue to fulfill his supporting role until September 2024.
