FC Groningen is no longer counting on the arrival of Abdou Harroui. Football International reports on Wednesday afternoon that it is believed that Sparta Rotterdam, with three million euros, has too high an asking price for the attacking midfielder. The Pride of the North is now shifting attention to Nikolai Laursen of FC Emmen, it sounds.

Harroui himself would be interested in a transfer to FC Groningen, which made a first offer in Rotterdam last week. However, Sparta put the offer aside and because of the requested transfer fee, interest from Groningen has now cooled down considerably. Technical director Mark-Jan Fledderus is now investigating the possibilities of removing Laursen from Emmen. A transfer amount will also have to be deposited for the former PSV player, because his current contract will continue for another two years.

Laursen can attack in several positions, making him an attractive option for FC Groningen. Fledderus wants to attract another player with offensive qualities anyway, as there is a good chance that Ajdin Hrustic will leave in the final phase of the transfer period. The midfielder is eager to switch to Eintracht Frankfurt and is therefore not planning to extend his expiring contract in Groningen. The first two proposals from Germany have been rejected, but it is expected that Frankfurt will return for Hrustic for a third time.
