It doesn't seem like a foregone conclusion that Nico Williams will leave for FC Barcelona. Brand reports in imitation of The Athletic that Paris Saint-Germain are also in the market for the Athletic Club winger. The release clause stipulates that Williams can leave the Spanish Cup winner for 58 million euros.

Barcelona are not giving up on Williams, however. Last week, the first major step was taken with a meeting between sporting director Deco and agent Felix Tainta in Zaragoza, reported GirlsIn that conversation, Deco outlined Barcelona's proposal.
Although Williams is considered a player who can make a difference for Barcelona, Deco made it clear that he cannot exceed certain financial limits. The sporting director must adhere to Financial Fair Play rules.
Williams' agent has therefore been asked to agree to a lower salary in the first two seasons. In the third year, the fee should increase significantly. This formula was previously used to sign Robert Lewandowski and Ilkay Gundogan.
